With the weather getting colder, I thought I'd finally share my immune boosting and overall full body detox soup. This is my favorite soup for every reason- it's delicious, savory, comforting, healing and nourishing. When it’s colder, eating hot foods can facilitate digestion and support the system. A diet rich in these vegetables and herbs is linked to reducing inflammation, minimizing cancer risk, improving heart health and...

Spring time is Superpowered Green Juice time! With the amount of work our liver must do daily in 2018 to process toxins in our food and environment, it's critical to work in as many servings of vegetables and fresh herbs as possible to get enough vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and phytochemicals that protect our body from cellular damage and help the liver detoxify! I can't think of a better way to get more antioxidants PLUS...

Many of my patients with digestive issues get frustrated during the holidays, because certain foods like dairy, gluten, garlic and onions seem to be in almost every dish. However, many traditional Thanksgiving foods are actually low FODMAP, meaning they are low in fermentable carbohydrates. Here are some tips to make your thanksgiving bloat-free, nutritious and delicious!

1. Turkey without gravy is usually low FODMAP- if you ca...

Lemons and oranges are rich in antioxidants and Vitamin C, which helps boost immunity and supports the immune system to fight off the infection. Ginger has been shown to modulate the immune system, reduce inflammation, support healthy digestion and reduce pain. At the first sign of a cold or even when you’re already sick, drink a shot glass of this cocktail 2-3 times a day to build up your immune system.

For those of you who missed my Healthy & Delicious snacks class, I thought I'd post the class's favorite recipe- Lemon Drop Energy Balls! Rich in good fats and protein, this snack will keep you energized and satisfied with just 1 or 2 bites! It's also slightly tart and tangy, which reminds some people of lemon squares or desserts with lemon curd.

I like adding maca root powder to my energy balls because it's great for regulatin...

Ever get bored with salads? When using this creamy delicious dressing, you will easily devour crunchy salads and veggies. Tahini is sesame paste, often used in mediterranean cooking. One of my favorite childhood memories was making and eating tahini with my Israeli cousins. They showed me how to use it to make fresh, homemade hummus. Many of my patients can't tolerate chickpeas, since they are highly fermentable. However, the...

Mint is considered a carminitive, an herb that reduces gas and bloating. Mint has been used historically for dyspesia, nausea, IBS, and stomach cramps. Combined with peppers, this dish is high in Vitamin C and A. Coriander seeds and leaves are also considered carminative and help chelate heavy metals. Coriander can also be used as an appetite stimulant and antimicrobial. Overall, this recipe helps support digestion and reduce...

Bone broth is a soup that has been consumed for centuries across various cultures for it’s nutritious and healing properties. High in amino acids, collagen and minerals, it is thought to quell inflammation in the gut and speed recovery of the gut lining.  I recommend choosing bones from either grass fed and finished meats or pasture raised poultry bones and organic vegetables to maximize the healing effects of this recipe. Alt...

Walnut Mint & Pomegranate Salad is a great anti-inflammatory recipe for SIBO, Candida, Parasite and most Elimination diets.

April 16, 2017

I noticed that there are few recipes available that are grain free, sugar free and actually tasty. For my patients who are sugar free and on elimination diets, it's hard to get baked goods to achieve the right texture without gluten or starches. Using coconut milk, eggs and ghee together seem to get the flavor and moisture level just right.
